Young and Pretty

  • The Young and Pretty sweater pattern was first published in 1948 and reflects a return to softer longer lines. The body and sleeves are knitted in rib with the front yoke worked in a contrasting moss stitch pattern. An elaborate frill is knitted and then attached around the edges of the front yoke. The yoke itself is open at centre front with buttonholes added. The beautifully shaped sleeves are gathered at the sleeve head to further add to the feminine silhouette. The sweater is knitted in separate flat pieces which are then sewn together.

Young and Pretty is knitted using Susan Crawford Excelana North, fingering weight a soft, fingering weight 100% British wool, spun for us in nearby Yorkshire and dyed in-house by Susan and her team. Shown here in shade Angel Delight.

Our model Fleur is shown wearing the second size to fit chest 86-92cm (34-36in).

The pattern includes instructions for four sizes to fit chest measurements between 76cm (30in) and 112cm (44in) and contains clear written instructions plus a comprehensive schematic diagram and sizing chart.
