Knocker Jotter

100 page lined journal with soft back cover, interspersed with 16 full page colour portraits of women recovering from cancer, accompanied by an inspirational quote.

CancerCare North Lancs and South Lakeland, is an independent, local charity based in the North of England which provides professional complementary treatments and advice by qualified and experienced staff to cancer patients, their families and their carers. Everyone featured in the jotter has been, or is, going through the harrowing journey of cancer, the diagnosis, the treatment, the side effects and living with them all. Cancer, and particularly, breast cancer, attempts to strip us of our physicality, our visual identity, taking our hair, eyebrows, eyelashes, nails, and on may occasions, our breasts, leaving behind physical and mental scars. The ‘Scarletts’ featured in the Knocker Jotter as it is playfully called, wanted to share their personal experiences and let others know who are being faced with a cancer diagnosis, that whatever they may be going through, others have also been there and no one needs to feel alone. Through the portraits the Scarletts hope to take back ownership of their bodies, by sharing their scars and their new selves and by being proud of who they are, the journeys they have been on and the new women they have become.

You can support this amazing charity who have supported not just these 16 women but hundreds more, women, men and children, by purchasing a copy of the Knocker Jotter.

fubc shawl kit
The limited edition fubc shawl kit has been launched to celebrate the end of Susan's treatment for breast cancer and to help support her local charity, Cancercare, by selling copies of the 'Knocker Jotter', a journal containing 16 portraits of woman at various stages of their cancer journey, as part of the kit. £15 from each kit sold will be donated to Cancercare and Susan hopes to raise approximately £6000 in total. The kit is a collaborative effort by Susan, her friend and fellow designer Tess Young, four of Susan's favourite hand dyers, Skein Queen, Old Maiden Aunt, Knitting Goddess and Countess Ablaze and graphic artist, Julie Nelson-Rhodes who created an iconic and original skein band for the yarn. Using Susan's limited edition yarn, Ghyll, each dyer created an exclusive and very limited edition colourway inspired by one of the photos in the journal. Each kit contains one 100gm skein of natural, undyed Ghyll, one 100gm skein of one of the limited edition colourways, a high quality printed pattern booklet containing both shawl patterns for you to choose from and a copy of the Knocker Jotter. The first 150 orders received will also receive a hand made project bag sewn from vintage fabric. Simply opt for the colourway of your choosing bearing in mind there are less than 100 skeins of each colourway.
