Distinctive and Smart in Lacy Squares

  • This textured cardigan pattern was first published in the late 1930s but feels extremely contemporary in style. The interesting grid pattern of alternate stocking stitch and lace squares maintains your interest throughout. The deep garter stitch button bands are worked at the same time as the fronts with a separate collar worked in 2x2 rib. The cardigan is knitted in flat separate squares and then sewn together.

Distinctive and Smart in Lacy Squares is knitted using Susan Crawford Excelana North, fingering weight a soft, fingering weight 100% British wool in shade Clematis, hand-dyed in-house by Susan and her team.

Our model Theodora is shown wearing the third size to fit chest 91cm (36in).

The pattern includes instructions for eight sizes to fit chest measurements between 76cm (30in) and 132cm (52in) and contains both clear written pattern directions, together with charted instructions for the lace pattern, plus a comprehensive schematic diagram and sizing chart.
