To Wear with a Summer Suit

  • To Wear with a Summer Suit is a lightweight sweater originally published in the late 1930s. The pattern uses a striking repeating lace motif against a background of moss stitch to great effect. Further drama is provided with the addition of decorative points on the neckband which are repeated on the cuffs of the elbow-length sleeves. The sweater is knitted in separate flat pieces then sewn together. Te body commences with a nipped in waist with increases worked on a single row immediately after the deep ribbed welt is completed - no further increases are required, meaning the lace section can be knitted without worrying about a changing number of stitches!

To Wear with a Summer Suit is knitted using Susan Crawford Breeze, a fingering weight wool-cotton blend perfect for lighterweight garments. We have used shade Charleston, hand-dyed in-house by Susan and her team.

Our model Fleur is shown wearing the third size to fit chest 97-102cm (38-40in).

The pattern includes instructions for six sizes to fit chest measurements between 76cm (30in) and 132cm (52in) and contains both clear written pattern directions, together with charted instructions for the diamond lattice pattern plus a comprehensive schematic diagram and sizing chart.
