Day At The Races Yarn Kit

This yarn kit contains all the yarn you need to knit the stylish Day At The Races beret. The kit uses Fenella yarn, 100% British wool - a lightweight yarn, created to replicate vintage '3 Ply' yarns of yesteryear. The beret uses five delightful shades knitted using an all-over Fair Isle pattern.

About the Day at the Races beret: A chic colour work beret, perfect for accessorizing an elegant outfit, Day at the Races is a beginner-friendly stranded knitting project. Pair it with a tweed jacket for more formal occasions and when in casual company, it is a great match for a woollen sweater or cardigan. Neatly sized it is the perfect beret both for a vintage wardrobe or for a more contemporary look.

The beret is a great introduction to stranded colourwork techniques - The same recurring motif is used throughout and decreases are placed on the stocking stitch rounds, making it a great project for the beginner colourwork knitter to learn colourwork and in-the-round techniques on a small canvas. For the more experienced knitter it is a quick and satisfying knit that is also perfect for gift knitting.

Day at the Races is knitted using Susan Crawford Fenella, a 2 ply (vintage 3 ply weight) yarn, worsted spun for a soft handle. The perfect yarn Fair Isle projects, it comes in 25g skeins - hand-dyed in-house by Susan and her team. For the Day at the Races beret we have used Roman Plaster for the background, with Atomic Red, Jonquil, Myristica and Myrtle used for the striking colourwork motifs

There are three kit options as follows:

Kit Type One - All Inclusive: All the yarn you need to create the Day At The Races beret - 1 skein each of Fenella in Roman Plaster, Atomic Red, Jonquil, Myristica and Myrtle, packaged in a SCV cotton project bag, a printed copy of the pattern, plus a PDF version of the pattern.

Kit Type Two - Yarn plus PDF pattern: All the yarn you need to create the Dahlia shawl - 1 skein each of Fenella in Roman Plaster, Atomic Red, Jonquil, Myristica and Myrtle, packaged in a SCV cotton project bag plus a PDF version of the pattern.

Kit Type Three - Yarn Only: All the yarn you need to create the Dahlia shawl - 1 skein each of Fenella in Roman Plaster, Atomic Red, Jonquil, Myristica and Myrtle, packaged in a SCV cotton project bag.
