The difference in the row gauge of the two patterns is used to great effect, creating a dramatically shaped front section which sits perfectly where your coat closes; at the back there is less bulk, so the cowl sits comfortably against the back collar. Short rows are worked at the top of the cowl back to keep out those chilly winds.

Tyto Alba is knitted in our Barn yarn, a DK weight, 100% British wool, with just the right amount of drape for this soft, comforting cowl and yet enough character to emphasise the beautiful textured pattern and sculptural cables on its surface.

The pattern includes a written pattern plus charted instructions for the cable patterns.

Sizing:

One size

Yarn:

Barn from Susan Crawford, 100% British wool, 225m/246yds per 100g

1 x 100g skein shade Dry Stone Wall

Gauge:

15 sts and 43 rounds = 10cm(4in) measured over Elongated Purl pattern knitted in the round, after blocking.
