A one-off knitted sample from A Stitch in Time Volume 2 knitted using Excelana 4 Ply, 100% British wool, in natural undyed shade Alabaster paired with Cornflower Blue for a classic colour combination. Designed in Paris features an unusual slip stitch pattern worked throughout which creates a cosy fabric. The sweater is finished with hems to both the lower edge of the garment and cuffs and has neat pockets on the lower front. The funnel neck is also faced and three vintage buttons are added to the shoulder seam. The garment is typical of the tunic style sweaters of the late 1950s often worn with capri pants or cut-off jeans.
The sample was knitted in the first size to fit 32-34 inch (81-87 cm) chest and has a finished chest dimension of 37.5 inches (95 cm) and a length to underarm of 15.5 inches (39.5 cm). The style of the garment means that it is cut narrower at the bottom edge than at the chest and has a hip circumference of 33.5 inches (85cm).
