Tropaeolum

pdf logo PDF Pattern

  • This striking yet easy-to-wear hat cleverly combines the bold shades of the Nasturtium (or Tropaeolum) plant with traditional Shetland motifs to create an elegant, wearable hat. The hat begins with a deep, comfortable twisted rib brim which is then followed by the main body of the hat, made up of colourwork patterning.  The pattern includes instructions for three adult sizes as well as full colour charts.

Tropaeolum is knitted in Susan Crawford Bluem yarn, a light DK weight wool spun from 100% supersoft British Blue Faced Leicester wool, hand dyed in three vibrant colours inspired by the nasturtium flower. Bluem is extremely soft and warm making it the perfect yarn for this slightly slouchy, cosy knit.

The pattern contains clear written instructions as well as charted instructions and clear schematic diagrams.:
