100% British wool, blended from Cheviot and Bluefaced Leicester sheep, grown, sheared and spun in Britain and hand-dyed by our team at our canal-side mill.
A light DK weight yarn, is worsted spun for a soft handle, and works exquisitely for Fair Isle projects as well as textured and lace stitches, blocking and holding its shape beautifully. Despite its softness, Excelana is a sturdy yarn that doesn't pill easily.
247 metres/270 yards per 100g skein
Recommended gauge between 20 and 22 sts to 10cm (4in) using 3.75-4mm needles.
Excelana North is now hand-dyed in-house by Susan and her daughter, Charlie, at their Lake District dye studio, "A Room Of My Own" in a range of beautiful and well-loved shades. Excelana North is a non-superwash yarn and should be washed by hand in cool water with a gentle wool wash.
