About Rosa: Rosa is a delightful, easy to wear sweater, ideal for almost any occasion; it is warm and functional, and can be worn with trousers, skirt, shorts or over a dress. The simple yoked sweater knitted in DK weight wool is a delight to knit too.
Rosa is worked in the round from the bottom up with an attractive twisted rib stitch worked for the welt, cuffs and bands giving a real sharpness to these sections of the sweater. Once the lower body is completed, the sleeves are knit and then the three pieces are joined together and the upper body worked in one piece. Short rows are worked to ensure the front neckline sits lower than the front. The stunning yoke featuring the beautiful rose motif is then worked.
Rosa is knitted using Susan Crawford Barn, a DK weight blend of Jacob and Shetland fleeces creating a beautifully soft, airy, tonal, naturally grey yarn. This natural shade is called Dry Stone Wall and is the main colour for the Rosa sweater. This yarn has then been hand dyed here at our Lake District studio in three shades to create the hues needed for the rose motifs on the decorative yoke:
Rosehip a strong, vibrant red; Rosa a faded pink; and Frond a light green.
