  • Umbel Yarn Kit

This kit contains all the yarn you need to knit the spectacular Umbel shawl, an asymetric triangular shawl created with Shetland lace motifs.

Umbel is knitted in Excelana fingering weight yarn, 100% British wool now available in a new edition, Excelana 'North' worsted spun from a blend of Cheviot and Bluefaced Leicester wools. It works exquisitely for lace projects and responds well to blocking and holds its shape beauifully. Despite its softness, Excelana is a sturdy yarn that doesn't pill easily.

The Umbel sample shown is knitted in Agapanthus a light but rich blue which gives the lace patterning great definition.

Excelana North 4 Ply is available in over 20 other beautiful shades all of which can be used to knit Umbel. Take a look at the shades here.

Simply choose from either a kit which includes your yarn, an SCV drawstring bag plus a PDF pattern (also at a discounted price) or a yarn only option if you already have the Umbel pattern (also available in my book, Evolution).  Both options includes 5 x 50gm skeins of the shade of your choosing and offers a considerable saving of 10% on buying the yarn individually.

    What your yarn kit contains:

    Option 1 (Yarn plus PDF)

5 x 50g skeins of your chosen shade of Excelana fingering, SCV drawstring bag and the Umbel PDF pattern.

    Option 2 (Yarn only)

5 x 50g skeins of your chosen shade of Excelana fingering and SCV drawstring bag. Please note the Umbel PDF pattern is not included as part of this option. To purchase your pattern either individually or to purchase a copy of Evolution, follow the link above.
