100% British wool, grown, spun and dyed in Britain and hand finished here at Monkley Ghyll.
A 4ply/fingering weight yarn, it is worsted spun for a soft handle, and works exquisitely for Fair Isle projects as well as textured and lace stitches, blocking and holding its shape beautifully. Despite its softness, Excelana is a sturdy yarn that doesn't pill easily.
159 metres/174 yards per 50g skein.
Recommended gauge between 26 and 28 sts to 10cm (4in) using 3-3.25mm needles.
As the name suggests, Sweet Chestnut is a warm light brown. It tones wonderfully with the autumnal shades in the range such as Dark Mandarin, Icelandic Moss and Land Army Green. It is also used to good effect as the contrast colour on Bowland.
