The Maggy waistcoat is a fabulously versatile piece, perfect for layering over dresses, blouses or t-shirts. Maggy is knitted in the round from the bottom up, with a centre front steek worked throughout with additional armhole steeks added when required. The simple repeating colourwork motifs are pleasurable to knit, making this an extremely enjoyable and fast-moving knit.

Maggy is knitted with Byre, a fingering (4 ply) weight yarn which is spun from 100% British wool at a nearby mill in Yorkshire. Barn is a blend of Jacob and Shetland fleeces creating a beautifully soft, airy, tonal, naturally grey yarn. This natural shade is called Dry Stone Wall which is used as the background shade in this all-over colourwork vest.

In addition this stunning yarn has been hand dyed in four rich shades to create the rich, autumnal hues for Maggy. These four shades have been inspired by the farm landscape - both organic and industrial - so familiar in the Lake District: Undergrowth is an intense, deep green reflecting the shadows between the foliage in the surrounding woodland; Moss Covered Wall is a vibrant, light green created to suggest the mosses that grow on every surface; Berry Picking a rich, dark purple reminiscent of blackberries and Hay Bale - as the name suggests, the colour of hay tightly packed into bales. These stunning hand dyed yarns have been created and dyed by Susan and her daughter, Charlie.
