A simple knit, the Maile vest knits up quickly and is both an enjoyable knit for seasoned knitters and also a great pattern for beginners.
The vest is knitted in flat pieces from the bottom up, and then sewn together before contrasting striped bands are added.
Maile is knitted using Susan Crawford Excelana North Lightweight DK and is shown here in two colourways;
Colourway One is worn by Charlie and uses Trefusis a deep teal green as the main colour with contrasting shades of Limestone and Red Granite used for the contrast stripes.
Colourway Two worn by Denis is knitted using Cornflower a pleasing mid-blue as the main colour with constrasting stripes of Snowdrop and Saharan Sand used for the contrast stripes,
Choose from one of the two colourways shown or alternatively choose the 'custom' option to select a shade of your choice from the beautiful range of colours in Excelana North DK.
After choosing your colourway, select which of the six kit sizes you require. Each kit provides yarn to knit a range of pattern sizes:
Kit Size One: To knit either 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th pattern sizes (71-86cm/28-34in) short length and 1st-3rd pattern sizes (71-81cm/28-32in) long length; this includes 3 x 100g skeins of Excelana North DK in yarn A, plus 2 25g mini-skeins for contrast stripes.
Kit Size Two: To knit 5th-10th pattern sizes (92-117cm/36-46in) short length and 4th-10th pattern sizes (86-117cm/34-36in) long length; this includes 4 x 100g skeins of Excelana North DK in yarn A plus 2 25g mini-skeins for contrast stripes.
Kit Size Three: To knit 1th-14th pattern sizes (122-137cm/48-54in) short length and 11th-12th pattern sizes (122-127cm/48-50in) long length; this includes 5 x 100g skeins of yarn A plus 2 25g mini-skeins for contrast stripes.
Kit Size Four: To knit 15th-18th pattern sizes (142-157cm/56-62in) short length and 13th size (132cm/52in) long length; this includes 6 x 100g skeins of Excelana North DK in yarn A, plus 2 25g mini-skeins for contrast stripes.
Kit Size Five: To knit 14th-16th pattern sizes (137-147cm/54-58in) long length; this includes 6 x 100g skeins of Excelana North DK in yarn A, plus 4 25g mini-skeins for contrast stripes.
Kit Size Six: To knit 17th-18th pattern sizes (152-177cm/60-62in) long length; this includes 7 x 100g skeins of Excelana North DK in yarn A, plus 4 25g mini-skeins for contrast stripes.
