Poppy is a is a truly spectacular yoked sweater and is everything you expect from a 1940s sweater. It commences with a deep ribbed band followed by a stocking stitch body shaped at the sides until the required chest measurement is reached, creating the quintessential 1940s silhouette. The upper body has shaped armholes and then an exquisite, deep, patterned yoke on both the front and back of the sweater, using four additional shades in addition to the main colour used for the rest of the body. Short sleeves and a neat neckline finish off the sweater. The left shoulder and neck band feature a decorative crochet button loop and button opening or alternatively press fastenings can be added if preferred.

The pattern includes twelve sizes to fit from 82–152cm (32–60in) chest.

Poppy is knitted using Lock spun from my own Lonk sheep fleeces blended with nylon to create a unique and very special fingering weight yarn spun for us in nearby Yorkshire and dyed in-house by my daughter, Charlie. Lonk sheep are a breed of sheep local to the Pennines of of the North of England whose fleeces where historically used in the hosiery industry but sadly the breed is now in decline and is now on the Rare Breed register.

Poppy is shown here in Colourway One using Hay Bale as the background shade, plus the stunning contrasting shades of Apple Blossom a warm, pink shade, Loam an intense dark brown, Red Sky at Night a soft, but solid, red and Moss Covered Wall a delightful shade of mossy green.
