Accessory for your Spring Suit

  • Accessory for your Spring Suit was originally published in the mid-1930's and features a series of neat mock cable panels on the front of the sweater set against a garter stitch background. The garter stitch continues on the back and sleeves of the sweater. The slightly blouson effect typical of sweaters from this period, is achieved by a row of increases worked immediately above the deep ribbed welt. No further increases are worked after this point. The front is divided into a v-neck with a collar knitted separately featuring the same mock cable panel. The collar is knitted long enough to be tied in a bow at centre front. The mock cable pattern is also included in chart form as well as written instructions.

Accessory for your Spring Suit is knitted using Susan Crawford Byre, a fingering weight yarn that is a blend of Jacob and Shetland British wools, with a natural heathered grey finish. We have used shade Plum Jam which is hand-dyed in-house by Susan and her team over the natural grey yarn.

Our model Fleur is shown wearing the third size to fit 97-102 cm (38-40 in) chest.

The pattern includes instructions for five sizes to fit chest measurements between 76cm (30in) and 122cm (48in) and contains clear written instructions plus a comprehensive schematic diagram and sizing chart.
