Bluem Sock - Farm Gate

About Bluem Sock:

Bluem Sock is 75% British Bluefaced Leicester wool/25% nylon, spun at a local mill and hand-dyed by Susan here at Monkley Ghyll.

Bluem sock is a Fingering weight yarn, worsted spun with a high twist making it perfect for socks. The Bluefaced Leicester yarn is a soft but resilient fibre and combined with a small amount of nylon, it creates the perfect fabric for socks. The yarn shows off texture, cables and lace to great effect and the fibre combination takes colour beautifully.

All shades are limited edition and dyed by hand here at Monkley Ghyll in a range of shades inspired by the landscape on this hillside farm.

About Farm Gate:

Old farm gates have a particular beauty. Aged and usually broken in some way; hanging from only one hinge, tied in place with the ubiquitous baling twine, or held together with the wood from several other gates long since removed. The wood is pale and weathered, washed by years of wind, rain, sleet and snow, softening the brightness of newly made timbers into a softer patina. Farm Gate shares that softness and variegation of tone accompanied with surprising depth.
