Bluem Sock - Lime Mortar

About Bluem Sock:

Bluem Sock is 75% British Bluefaced Leicester wool/25% nylon, spun at a local mill and hand-dyed by Susan here at Monkley Ghyll.

Bluem sock is a Fingering weight yarn, worsted spun with a high twist making it perfect for socks. The Bluefaced Leicester yarn is a soft but resilient fibre and combined with a small amount of nylon, it creates the perfect fabric for socks. The yarn shows off texture, cables and lace to great effect and the fibre combination takes colour beautifully.

All shades are limited edition and dyed by hand here at Monkley Ghyll in a range of shades inspired by the landscape on this hillside farm.

About Lime Mortar:

The stone walls of the farmhouse and the barns around it are held together by lime mortar a traditional method of glueing together the stones and widely used throughout history in many different countries and cultures. Lime mortar can be coloured to match the substance it is being used to hold together, but here at the farm it is a natural soft beige with darker brown tones speckled through it. Lime Mortar attempts to replicate this with a complex, slightly variegated colour with darker and lighter tones throughout the skein.
