About Celia:
This delicate scarf and glove set were inspired by a 100 year old pattern found in the Encyclopedia of Needlework. This simple lace pattern lends itself both to the firm gauge required for the gloves and for a more open, lighter fabric needed for the scarf. The gloves are knitted on 3mm needles to provide a tighter, warmer gauge whilst the scarf is knitted on larger needles to create a scarf with lots of drape.
Instructions are provided for both the scarf and the gloves, with added instructions for knitting the gloves either in the round or flat. A great tip is included for achieving the perfect fit with the gloves. The pattern is named after Celia Johnson who starred in Brief Encounter - the perfect woollies for those cold evenings waiting for the train.
Knitted using Excelana 4ply, 100% pure wool, a warm, soft yet durable yarn. With 20 shades to choose from you could have a matching scarf and gloves for every eventuality!
The pattern includes both written and charted instructions for the lace sections.
