Clarion is a sophisticated, elegant cardigan with a striking two-colour pattern, perfect for wearing over a dress or skirt and blouse. Clarion has been knitted in a delightful combination of pink and cream for maximum 1950s glamour. This striking all-over colourwork cardigan has set-in sleeves and a neat round neck. It is knitted in the round with a centre front steek worked throughout and armhole steeks added after the armhole division. You can choose either to work dark on light using Colourway One, as the version shown, or instead, use Colourway Two to give a light pattern on a dark background.
The pattern includes instructions for a choice of three lengths, short, medium or long and all options provide instructions for 9 sizes to fit chest measurements between 76 - 177cm (30 - 70 in).
Clarion is knitted using Susan Crawford Excelana North fingering weight 100% British wool, spun for us in nearby Yorkshire and dyed in-house by Susan's daughter, Charlie. It is worsted spun for a soft handle from 3 plies of a stunning Cheviot and Bluefaced Leicester blend. It works exquisitely for stranded colourwork; responding well to blocking and holding its shape beautifully. Despite its softness, Excelana is a sturdy yarn that doesn't pill easily.
Clarion is shown here in Colourway One using the contrasting shades of Excelana North fingering weight; Alabaster as the main shade plus the fabulous new shade of Blancmange.
