A beautiful hat framing the wearer's face based on the elegant cloche hats of the 1920s and early 1930s, with a tall crown pulled low over the forehead drawing attention to the eyes. The hat is named after Evangeline, one of the two sisters in the wonderful BBC TV series called The House of Eliott - a dressmaking establishment where the two main characters, Evangeline and here sister, wear some of the most amazing outfits which would have worked perfectly with this stylish hat.
Evangeline is knitted in two parts, beginning with the brim which is knitted from side to side. The crown is then picked up along the brim's long edge and then knitted in the round, with short rows added at the back of the crown to create a deeper hat, along with stripes to match the brim. One perfect button is sewn on to the brim to provide that final flourish.
A great project for an advanced beginner or intermediate knitter wanting to expand their skills.
Knitted using Excelana DK, 100% pure wool, in shades of Pomegranate and English Mustard, the perfect yarn for a cosy, enveloping hat.
The pattern contains clear written instructions.
