  • Introduction to Crochet

    Saturday 29th March, 10.30 – 3.30

A workshop perfect for absolute beginners, those who have tried to crochet, but struggled to get started, or even those who have done a little crochet but want to gain confidence in the basic stitches. This class will teach the basic crochet stitches and techniques, making swatches of each, working straight and in the round to practise and build confidence in the skills. We will cover working a chain, double, half-treble, and treble crochet stitches, how and when to work turning chains, the anatomy and terminology of crochet, pattern reading, and pattern abbreviations. We will also cover how to work crochet in the round and how to make a basic ‘ball’ construction (perfect for amigurumi toy figures).

    Materials:

We will supply the yarn, crochet hooks, tape measures, scissors and sewing needles for you to use during the class. If you wish to bring your own tools that’s also fine. A pen or pencil would also be useful and a notebook if you wish to make notes. A handout will also be provided covering the techniques included in the class.

    About your teacher, Meu:

Meu is a member of the team here at Assa Marra Wool Studio and is a qualified teacher. She has been crocheting for many years and comes from a family of crocheters. Meu also designs her own crocheted garments.

Price includes materials as listed above plus refreshments on arrival. Lunch is not included. The class takes place in our classroom at the Assa Marra Wool Studio. Disabled access is available to the classroom via a lift. Please let us know if you would like us to arrange access using the lift. There is a maximum of 8 students per class. This class is for adults only.
