A Stitch in Time Vintage Knitting & Crochet Patterns, 1920-1949: Vol. 1

    • The Winter Woollies pattern first published in the mid 1930's can be worn both as a long line vest or as a mini-dress. It is knitted in two flat pieces from the bottom edge up finishing with an unusual textural border at the top of the bodice. Both pieces are the same, knitted in stocking stitch with minimal side shaping, which makes the Winter Woollies a great introductory knitting project for the beginner looking to progress from simple accessories. Ribbon is attached to the top of the bodice to create easily adjustable straps.

Winter Woollies is knitted using Susan Crawford Miranda, 2 Ply laceweight yarn, in a sumptuous blend of alpaca, silk and cashmere perfect for wearing next to the skin. We have used shade Delafield, a variegated yarn which provides great interest to the finished piece.

Our model Miranda is shown wearing the second size to fit 86cm (34in) chest. This garment is designed to be worn with between 10-15cm (4-6in) of negative ease at the bust

The pattern includes instructions for seven sizes to fit chest measurements between 76cm (30in) and 112cm (44in) and contains clear written instructions plus a comprehensive schematic diagram and sizing chart.
