Pine Wood Yarn Kit

PINE WOOD SOCK yarn kits using our unique sock yarn, LOCK, spun from our own Lonk sheep fleeces blended with nylon to create the perfect sock yarn. Lonk is a local hill sheep now on the Rare Breed Endangered list. Until the 1930s the fibre from Lonk sheep was used widely in the hosiery industry but in recent times the unique nature of this yarn has been forgotten. This very special yarn is spun to our specifications exclusively for us at a local Yorkshire mil and hand-dyed at our Lake District dye studio in shades inspired by the Bloomsbury movement. The Pine Wood socks are a charming and festive addition to your winter sock collection. They feature a playful, stranded colourwork design of pine trees encircling the leg of the socks. Once the leg has been completed, a standard heel flap and gusset are worked, before a simple stocking stitch foot is knitted. The socks are knitted in the round using double pointed needles which should be purchased separately if needed.

The Pine Wood socks can be knitted in a choice of widths and lengths with the foot length adjustable, with instructions provided to knit from child size to large adult. Choose the kit size you require based on which sock size you wish to knit. A sizing chart and schematic diagram are included in the images shown to help you make your selection. The kit can also be purchased as a bundle including the PDF pattern and also with an SCV project bag. If you have already purchased the pattern, you can also purchase the yarn only option.

The Pine Wood socks sample shown is knitted using two shades of Susan Crawford Lock, Atwood, a glowing true red and Angelica, the natural undyed LOCK yarn.
