  • The Agatha mitts are inspired by Agatha Christie's books - especially the amateur sleuth and knitter Miss Marple. These fingerless mitts are knitted from the cuff in the round, using a lovely repeating colourwork motif. Thumb stitches are placed on waste yarn whilst the upper hand section is worked. Finally, the thumb is knitted to finish. As the pattern only uses small amounts of yarn in each shade, it is perfect for using up all those oddments of left-over sock yarn!

Agatha is knitted using Susan Crawford Bluem Sock, a fingering weight yarn, worsted spun with a high twist making it perfect for socks. The Bluefaced Leicester yarn is a soft but resilient fibre and combined with a small amount of nylon, it creates the perfect fabric for socks. The yarn shows off texture, cables and lace to great effect and the fibre combination takes colour beautifully.

Agatha is shown here knitted using shades Hay Bale, Lime Mortar, Canopy and Herb Garden.

Samples shown in size 2 on hand with 20 cm / 8 in circumference.

The pattern includes instructions for three sizes to fit hand circumference measurements between 17.5cm (7in) and 22.5cm (9in) and contains both clear written pattern directions, together with charted colour work instructions.
