The Dalloway sweater was inspired by the novel Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf. Susan first read the book as a teenager with literary ambitions, and has returned to it many, many times over the years. Dalloway is a classic yoke sweater, using one strongly contrasting shade in the colourwork. The motif is inspired by a woven coat worn by Virginia Woolf. The sweater is knit from the top down in the round, and the neck is shaped with short rows. You can knit the lower body as specified in the pattern or choose your own preferred hem length.

Dalloway is knitted using Susan Crawford Barn a DK weight, worsted spun yarn that is delightfully smooth and soft, created from a blend of Jacobs and Shetland fibres spun exclusively for us in a nearby Yorkshire mill.

Dalloway is shown here in Colourway One using shades Dry Stone Wall the natural undyed grey of the Barn yarn with Night Sky a dark navy blue as the contrasting shade
Colourway Two uses shade Sunset Over The Bay a warm but pale apricot with Rusty Tractor a strong rusty terracotta shade as the contrast.

Kit Size One:To fit 71 to 86cm (28-34 in) chest includes 4 X 100g skeins of main shade of Barn plus 1 X 100g skein of contrast shade of Barn.

Kit Size Two: To fit 92 to 107cm (36-42in) chest includes 5 X 100g skeins of main shade of Barn plus 1 X 100g skein of contrast shade of Barn.

Kit Size Three: To fit 112 to 127cm (44-50in) chest includes 6 X 100g skeins of main shade of Barn plus 1 X 100g skein of contrast shade of Barn.

Kit Size Four: To fit 132 to 137cm (52-54in) chest includes 7 X 100g skeins of main shade of Barn plus 1 X 100g skein of contrast shade of Barn.

Kit Size Five: To fit 142 to 147cm (56-58in) chest includes 7 X 100g skeins of main shade of Barn plus 2 X 100g skeins of contrast shade of Barn.
