• The Dalloway sweater was inspired by the novel Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf. Susan first read the book as a teenager with literary ambitions, and has returned to it many, many times over the years. Dalloway is a classic yoke sweater, using one strongly contrasting shade in the colourwork. The motif is inspired by a woven coat worn by Virginia Woolf. The sweater is knit from the top down in the round, and the neck is shaped with short rows. You can knit the lower body as specified in the pattern or choose your own preferred hem length.

  Dalloway is knitted using Susan Crawford Barn a DK weight, worsted spun yarn that is delightfully smooth and soft, created from a blend of Jacobs and Shetland fibres spun exclusively for us in a nearby Yorkshire mill.

  The pattern includes instructions for nine sizes to fit chest measurements between 71cm (28in) and 157cm (62in) and contains both clear written pattern directions, together with charted colour work instructions.

  Susan Crawford Barn, 100% British wool, a unique blend of Jacob, white Shetland and black Shetland fleeces,DK weight (225m / 246yds per 100g skein approx)

  Suggested needles
  Small Needles: 3.5 mm (US 4) circular needle (80-100 cm / 32-40 in)

  Gauge
  23 sts and 26 rounds = 10 cm / 4 in over Yoke Chart worked in the round, after blocking. We obtained this gauge using 4.5 mm needles.
  20 sts and 26 rounds = 10 cm / 4 in over stocking stitch worked in the round, after blocking. We obtained this gauge using 4.5 mm needles.
