The Lady's Sleeveless Fair Isle Pullover is the quintessential 1940s colourwork vest pattern, which is as wearable today as it was when the original version of this pattern was published. This design allows you to choose between a straight version or a shaped vintage fit, as well as three different length options, so you can be sure of finding a fit you'll love. The vest is knittted in the round from the bottom up and features a classic stranded colourwork pattern which is worked from a chart. It features steeks at the armholes and v-neck, meaning all colourwork rows are worked from the RS. You can follow my simple tutorial to learn how to work a steek.

The Lady's Sleeveless Fair Isle Pullover is knitted using Susan Crawford Excelana North Fingering Weight, which is a stunning yarn, spun for us at a local mill and hand-dyed in our small studio in the Lake District. This yarn is spun for us to be the perfect yarn for your vintage knits, and it especially shines in colourwork. The blend of British Cheviot and Bluefaced Leicester wools are worsted spun to create a light and lofty yarn which wears beautifully.

Colourway One, shown in ninth size: Excelana North Fingering Weight in Crayola (A), Dark as Night (B), Powdered Egg (C), Blancmange (D), Alabaster (E) and Himalayan Blue (F).

Colourway Two, shown in first size: Excelana North Fingering Weight in Saharan Sand (A), Ruby Red (B), Nile Green (C), Cornflower Blue (D), Alabaster (E) and Persian Grey (F).

The pattern includes seventeen sizes to fit from 70cm-157cm (28-62 inch) chest, with the following kits available:

Eight-skein Kit: To make 1st size (70cm / 28in), 2nd size (76cm / 30in), 3rd size (81cm / 32in) and 4th size (86cm / 34in) and includes 3 x 50g skeins of hand-dyed Excelana North Fingering Weight in shade A and 1 skein each in shades B, C, D, E & F.

Nine-skein Kit: To make 5th size (91cm / 36in) and 6th size (97cm / 38in) and includes 3 x 50g skeins of hand-dyed Excelana North Fingering Weight in shade A, 2 skeins in shade B and 1 skein each in shades C, D, E & F.

Ten-skein Kit: To make 7th size (102cm / 40in) and includes 4 x 50g skeins of hand-dyed Excelana North Fingering Weight in shade A, 2 skeins in shade B and 1 skein each in shades C, D, E & F.

Twelve-skein Kit: To make 8th size (107cm / 42in) and includes 4 x 50g skeins of hand-dyed Excelana North Fingering Weight in shade A, 2 skeins in shade B, E & F and 1 skein each in shades C & D.

Thirteen-skein Kit: To make 9th size (10-117cm / 44-46in), 10th size (121cm / 48in), 11th size (127cm / 50in), 12th size (131cm / 52in), 13th size (137cm / 54in) and 14th size (142cm / 56in) and includes 5 x 50g skeins of hand-dyed Excelana North Fingering Weight in shade A, 2 skeins in shade B, E & F and 1 skein each in shades C & D.

Fourteen-skein Kit: To make 15th size (147cm / 58in), 16th size (151cm / 60in) and 17th size (157cm / 62in) and includes 6 x 50g skeins of hand-dyed Excelana North Fingering Weight in shade A, 2 skeins in shade B, E & F and 1 skein each in shades C & D.
