    • The Agatha fingerless mittens are the perfect accessory for keeping chilly hands and wrists warm whilst continuing to look effortlessly stylish both indoors and out.

The Agatha mitts are inspired by Agatha Christie's books - especially the amateur sleuth and knitter Miss Marple.

The Agatha mitts are knitted from the cuff in the round, using a repeating stranded colourwork motif, which is worked from a chart. Thumb stitches are placed on waste yarn whilst the upper hand section is worked. Finally, the thumb is knitted to finish. This simple pattern with a repeating motif is perfect for knitters new to colourwork or for a more experienced knitter who desires a simple knit to work on.

Agatha is knitted using Susan Crawford Bluem Sock, a fingering weight yarn, which is spun at a local mill and hand-dyed at our Lake District studio in a wide range of beautiful and varied shades. The Bluefaced Leicester yarn is a soft but resilient fibre and combined with a small amount of nylon, it creates the perfect fabric for socks and other accessories. The yarn shows off texture, cables and lace to great effect and the fibre combination takes colour beautifully.

Agatha is shown here knitted using shades Hay Bale, Lime Mortar, Canopy and Herb Garden.

Samples shown in size 2 on hand with 20 cm / 8 in circumference.

The pattern includes instructions for three sizes to fit hand circumference measurements between 17.5cm (7in) and 22.5cm (9in) and contains both clear written pattern directions, together with charted colour work instructions.
