A one-off knitted sample knitted using Excelana 4 Ply in Nile Green and French Rose with highly decorative buttons from Liberty of London.
This elegant cardigan is based on the classic 1950s shape of a hip length, figure hugging silhouette which allows the highly stretchy nature of the textured fabric to do all the work and create a form fitting shape. The lattice stitch pattern is used with negative ease ensuring the garment stretches over the wearer's body with the finished size several inches smaller than the wearer.
The cardigan has decorative contrasting facings and hems to add to the couture look of this beautiful garment, named after the glamorous Frances Stevens played by Grace Kelly in To Catch A Thief.
The sample was knitted in the first size to fit 28-30 inch (71-76cm) chest and has a finished chest dimension of 23.5 inches (60.5 cm) and a length to underarm of 11.75 inches (30 cm).
