DIAMOND KITE YARN KITS USING OUR BEAUTIFUL HAND-DYED BLUEM SOCK YARN ARE NOW AVAILABLE TO ORDER. Please note, this kit does not include the Diamond Kite pattern. The pattern is only available by purchasing my new book, Echoes, which you can do by clicking on the link above. Your kit will be sent at the same time as your book.
Diamond Kite is a striking pair of colourwork socks featuring a repeating motif and a contrasting heel and toe. You can choose from the two lengths: a low calf or a boot-length sock. The socks are knitted from the top down with a twisted rib cuff and an hourglass heel. The foot is adjustable for length. The Diamond Kite socks were inspired by a song of the same name by Kate Bush - one of Susan's heroes from her youth. The small diamond motifs represent tiny kites.
Diamond Kite is knitted using Susan Crawford Bluem Sock, a fingering weight yarn, worsted spun with a high twist making it perfect for socks. The Bluefaced Leicester yarn is a soft but resilient fibre and combined with a small amount of nylon, it creates the perfect fabric for socks. The yarn shows off texture, cables and lace to great effect and the fibre combination takes colour beautifully.
You can now purchase our hand-dyed yarn kit to create your own pair of Diamond Kite socks using five 25gm mini-skeins of BLUEM SOCK, two of the main shade plus one of each of three contrast shades.
